Product Description
Review representative product forms and application context below. Final geometry and acceptance criteria are confirmed from the drawing and operating conditions.
Silicon Nitride Positioning Pins (also known as ceramic dowel pins or locating pins) are precision components designed for accurate positioning of weld nuts and studs in projection welding and resistance welding fixtures.
Made from high-performance silicon nitride ceramics, these pins provide electrical insulation, exceptional wear resistance, high fracture toughness and excellent thermal shock resistance. They prevent unwanted current flow and sparks between the pin and workpiece, eliminate weld spatter adhesion, and maintain precise positioning over long production cycles. Compared with steel or conventional metal pins, Si₃N₄ pins typically offer 5–10 times longer service life, higher welding quality and reduced downtime.
Manufacturing process (source record): High-purity Si₃N₄ powder → forming → high-temperature / gas pressure sintering → precision grinding and polishing to tight tolerances → final inspection.
Quality control (source record): Dimensional inspection, surface finish check, concentricity verification and batch traceability.
Data status: the source record is not supplier-verified. Numerical values are typical engineering references, not guaranteed product specifications; final values require grade, drawing and test-basis confirmation.
Product Features
- Electrical insulation — prevents sparks and unwanted current
- No weld spatter adhesion — cleaner process, less post-weld cleaning
- Superior wear resistance and high fracture toughness
- Excellent thermal shock resistance and high-temperature stability (up to 1200 °C)
- High dimensional stability under repeated thermal and mechanical loads
- Non-magnetic and chemically stable
- Significantly longer service life than steel or KCF pins
Typical Applications
- Projection welding of nuts to sheet metal (automotive and general metal forming)
- Resistance welding fixtures and automated nut welding stations
- Precise locating of weld nuts, studs and small metal components
- High-cycle production lines requiring consistent positioning accuracy
